HOUSTON \u2013 A man, who was already on probation when he allegedly robbed and stole the car of a Houston Texans player earlier this year, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n
Montreal Dwayne Frye was charged with felony evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after an incident where several suspects allegedly robbed Houston Texans safety Jaylen Reed at his home and stole his car.<\/p>\n
Frye was already on deferred adjudication and three years probation for a 2024 charge of evading and theft where he entered a guilty plea. On Friday, a judge revoked his deferred adjudication and sentenced Frye to 10 years in prison. As part of the revocation, the other charges against Frye were dropped.<\/p>\n
The robbery happened on January 4, 2026. The Texans player had reportedly just pulled into his garage when three masked men dressed in black confronted him and pointed rifles at him, according to court documents.<\/p>\n
Investigators say the suspects demanded \u201ceverything he had in the house,\u201d although available documents did not confirm whether or not anything from inside the home was taken.<\/p>\n
Two of the three suspected robbers took off in Reed\u2019s car. The third ran away on foot.<\/p>\n
Officers later located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit.<\/p>\n
The chase ended near Ella Boulevard and Rushcreek Drive, where the stolen vehicle crashed and one of the suspects was taken into custody.<\/p>\n
HPD said two patrol vehicles were damaged during the pursuit. One patrol unit caught fire following a collision, and another was significantly damaged. Officers involved suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene.<\/p>\n
