But the Lord\u00a0giveth, and the Lord taketh away.<\/p>\n<p>In a surprise move, Royal Caribbean announced Thursday it will reposition its Symphony of the Seas to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., instead of Galveston during the 2027 season. The cruise line will still be represented in the Gulf Coast city by Liberty of the Seas, which will begin its Galveston sailings in October 2026.<\/p>\n<p>And, as the cruise line <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/gulf-coast\/article\/royal-caribbean-icon-seas-galveston-21168674.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">announced last November<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/gulf-coast\/article\/royal-caribbean-galveston-icon-future-20824015.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Icon of the Seas<\/a>\u2014currently the world&#8217;s largest cruise ship\u2014will redeploy to Texas in August 2027. These will be the only Royal Caribbean ships to sail from Galveston next year, a spokesperson for the cruise line confirmed to Chron.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Royal Caribbean emphasized that no sailings will be canceled due to the shift. Guests and travel partners will be contacted directly with more information, it added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This repositioning allows us to continue delivering the incredible experiences guests love while thoughtfully evolving our deployment strategy,&#8221; the spokesperson said. &#8220;Royal Caribbean&#8217;s longstanding commitment to Texas remains strong [and] Galveston remains a key\u00a0homeport for us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Symphony of the Sea&#8217;s 2027 schedule from Galveston\u2014which has not yet been updated to Florida <a href=\"https:\/\/www.royalcaribbean.com\/cruises?search=ship:SY%7CstartDate:2027-01-01~2027-01-31,2027-02-01~2027-02-28,2027-03-01~2027-03-31,2027-04-01~2027-04-30,2027-05-01~2027-05-31,2027-06-01~2027-06-30,2027-07-01~2027-07-31,2027-08-01~2027-08-31,2027-09-01~2027-09-30,2027-10-01~2027-10-31,2027-11-01~2027-11-30,2027-12-01~2027-12-31&amp;country=USA&amp;icid=prfs24_tctclp_prf_hm_hero_4609\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">on the cruise line&#8217;s website<\/a>\u2014includes sailings of between four and eight nights, beginning on Jan. 3.
