East Texas Giving Day is coming up April 25 and this charitable giving event is a critical part of this region\u2019s economy and business success.<\/p>\n
East Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour day of giving that provides critical funding for our area nonprofits. The purpose of an area-wide Giving Day is to bring the region together on one day and as one community, raising money and awareness for East Texas nonprofits.<\/p>\n
Information shared by Elsa Selleck of Selleck Accounting & Finance sheds light on the impact of non-profit organizations:<\/p>\n
\u201cNonprofit organizations contribute roughly $1.4 trillion to the U.S. economy annually, accounting for over 5% of the national GDP. The nonprofit sector employs 12.8 million people, making it the third largest employment category in the U.S., ahead of the entire manufacturing industry.<\/p>\n
The nonprofit sector provides essential services to our City of Stars. A few examples are:<\/p>\n

\u2013\u00a0 housing services Fuller Center for Housing, Executive Director David Hampton<\/p>\n
