Several Texas cities, including one in Central Texas, have topped Austin<\/a> as some of the top places to live in the country.<\/p>\n

Niche graded cities based on 15 metrics, including crime, public schools, cost of living, job opportunities and local amenities. Each city was ranked using data from the U.S. Census, FBI, Bureau of Labor Statistics, CDC and more.<\/p>\n

With a No. 24 ranking, Round Rock scored an overall Niche grade of A. The Williamson County city earned high marks for its public schools, diversity and good place for families, as it was also named the 21st best city to raise a family in America.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In its Niche report card<\/a>, Round Rock also scored a “B+” for its weather, outdoor activities and opportunities for health and fitness. However, the city had a “B -” in housing, cost of living, and commutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Austin, on the other hand, which of course is much larger in size and population than Round Rock, had different results. The Live Music Capital scored an “A” in nightlife and diversity, but had lower scores in affordability (C+ cost of living) and a “C” in\u00a0housing, crime and safety.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Texas’ capital also earned an “A-” in family-friendliness and commute, along with a “B+” in public schools, jobs, outdoor activities, weather, and health and fitness. Niche also ranked Austin the 15th best city for young professionals in America.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other Texas cities that outranked Austin as a better place to live were The Woodlands near Houston (No. 3),\u00a0Plano near Dallas (No. 6) and Richardson in the DFW area\u00a0(No. 15).
