A bakery and coffee shop at San Antonio\u2019s quaint Bracken Village shopping center is firing down the ovens after a brief seven-month run. Neon Moon Bakery<\/a> says it will permanently close its 18771 FM 2252 #23 shop on November 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis decision doesn\u2019t come easy or quickly,\u201d wrote owner Megan Harlow in a social media statement<\/a>. \u201cI wrestled with it greatly, but ultimately must do what\u2019s best for my family. I wanted to take this time to thank you all for such a fun season of life. To open a small business is no small feat, but you all sure made it a heck of a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harlow opened Neon Moon in March, selling espresso drinks and an assortment of treats like dipped cookies, moon bites, and pecan sticky buns. Although the menu was similar to other bakeries, there was one key difference \u2014 instead of serving busy commuters, the business focused on nights.<\/p>\n

From Tuesday to Friday, Neon Moon is open between 5 and 9 pm, with a few sunny hours between 10 am and 6 pm on Saturdays. The unconventional times allowed Harlow to open the business as a community space. The shop hosted craft nights, free movie nights, pasta classes, and even worship nights.<\/p>\n

\u201cNeon Moon Bakery was born from a simple question: \u2018Why isn\u2019t there a cozy, late-night spot to enjoy quality desserts and good company \u2014 without the bar scene?\u2019 That question sparked a vision for something different \u2014 something special,\u201d explains the online bio.<\/p>\n

Harlow did not mention any plans to carry on the business in the post. Neon Moon started as a cottage bakery selling classic Southern desserts at pop-ups and events. CultureMap has reached out for more information. Regardless of future plans, Neon Moon plans to go out with a bang.<\/p>\n
