A North Texas mother of three is being remembered after an act of selflessness turned deadly.<\/p>\n
Dallas County deputies say 40-year-old Yolanda Garth was hit and killed while trying to help victims of a crash in Duncanville.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was just always helping, always there for people,\u201d said Cadie Maganga, owner of Labelle Braids and Beauty Supply in Dallas.<\/p>\n
Maganga was Garth’s mentor and boss, who says kindness was part of her routine.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was somebody I work with most of everyday and Yolanda was really nice, like, every morning she would bring me coffee,\u201d Maganga said.<\/p>\n
The Dallas County Sheriff\u2019s Office says Garth was killed along Highway 67 near Main Street in Duncanville after stopping to help victims of a crash. <\/p>\n
\u201cShe was always helping people and just knowing that she died trying to help was just very hard to process,\u201d Maganga said.<\/p>\n
Investigators say Garth was struck by another vehicle whose driver was trying to avoid hitting another crash and drove off the highway. Maganga says Garth and her family moved into a new house the day before she died.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo it was kind of shocking to me and at the same time, I was worried about her kids because she really really loved them,\u201d Maganga said.<\/p>\n
Donations are being collected to help Garth\u2019s daughters.<\/p>\n
Her funeral is scheduled for Saturday in Dallas.<\/p>\n
