Gregory-Portland<\/a> hasn’t had much luck against Flour Bluff<\/a> recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.<\/p>\n

Gregory-Portland had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Alice on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Coyotes 11-2.<\/p>\n

Emily LaFavers<\/a> made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn’t tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.<\/p>\n

In other batting news, Emily Cameron<\/a> was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last four games she’s played. Kailani Vargas<\/a> also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.<\/p>\n

Gregory-Portland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.<\/p>\n

Flour Bluff came out on top against Alice on Tuesday thanks in part to the team’s impressive ten-run third inning. The Hornets never let the Coyotes get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Hornets have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday’s blowout was nothing new.<\/p>\n

Like Gregory-Portland, Flour Bluff also got a great game from a two-way player: Kenzie O’Brien<\/a>. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. O’Brien was also stellar in the batter’s box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.<\/p>\n

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sidney Gerlach<\/a>, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Sarah Morris<\/a> was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.<\/p>\n

Gregory-Portland’s record is now 14-16-2. As for Flour Bluff, their record now sits at 21-9-1.<\/p>\n

Tuesday’s contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Gregory-Portland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it’s not like Flour Bluff struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
