\u00a0loud music\u00a0<\/a>late into the night, even though the source was miles away.<\/p>\n\u201cYou could feel the bass through the walls,\u201d one resident said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was just ‘boom, boom’\u2026 It sounded like it was coming right out of the floor,\u201d added Dan Merebith.<\/p>\n
Some residents stepped outside, thinking the noise was coming from nearby homes.<\/p>\n
\u201cI originally thought it was my next-door neighbor\u2019s house\u2026 I thought they were having a party,\u201d one person said.<\/p>\n
But neighbors soon realized the sound wasn\u2019t coming from their street. Instead, it was coming from Fair Park, more than four miles away.<\/p>\n
The area hosted both the Breakaway Music Festival and a concert at Dos Equis Pavilion on Friday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cI guess they had a noise complaint last night,\u201d one driver near the venue said.<\/p>\n
Residents say the music carried from about 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., loud enough to spark dozens of posts on social media and neighborhood apps.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody in the neighborhood was fired up about it last night,\u201d said resident Brian Straley.<\/p>\n
Others described the sound as high-energy, driven by DJ music and heavy bass.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Dallas City Councilmember Adam Bazaldua said he is working with the city\u2019s Park and Recreation Department to address the issue.<\/p>\n
That includes monitoring sound levels and improving how noise is managed during large events.<\/p>\n
Bazaldua said several factors may explain why residents’ miles away could hear the music including the positioning of the stage, which faces open land, and weather conditions that can carry sound farther than expected.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s insane. I didn\u2019t know it could travel that far,\u201d said Helen Liu, another resident.<\/p>\n
WFAA reached out to the festival\u2019s marketing team but has not yet received a response.<\/p>\n
While the music has since stopped, residents say the experience has raised new concerns about noise levels tied to large events in the city.<\/p>\n
