{"id":245909,"date":"2026-04-12T04:41:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-12T04:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/245909\/"},"modified":"2026-04-12T04:41:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T04:41:08","slug":"seven-provisional-marks-recorded-in-canyon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/245909\/","title":{"rendered":"Seven Provisional Marks Recorded in Canyon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#13;<br \/>\n                        By: Everett Corder (everett.corder@lcu.edu)&#13;\n                    <\/p>\n<p>                &#13;<br \/>\n                    Story Links&#13;<br \/>\n                    &#13;<br \/>\n    &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>                 CANYON, Texas (April 11, 2026) \u2013 Lubbock Christian University&#8217;s men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s track and field teams had an impressive weekend competing at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multis hosted by West Texas A&amp;M, getting a combined seven NCAA provisional marks, a first place finish and a new school record.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/mens-track-field\/roster\/maurice-gray\/5007\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"5007\" target=\"_blank\">Maurice Gray<\/a> set a new program record in the long jump, where he placed fifth overall. His leap of 7.57 meters surpassed the previous record of 7.51, set by <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/mens-track-field\/roster\/kevin-washington\/4654\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4654\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Washington<\/a> in 2023. It is also a provisional mark and the eighth-best jump in Division II this season.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLCU&#8217;s event win also came on the men&#8217;s side, where they took first in the 4X400. The team comprised of <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/mens-track-field\/roster\/aden-soto\/4991\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4991\" target=\"_blank\">Aden Soto<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/mens-track-field\/roster\/christian-saenz\/5051\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"5051\" target=\"_blank\">Christian Saenz<\/a>, Nevaeh Anderson and <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/mens-track-field\/roster\/daniel-sianez\/4990\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4990\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Sianez<\/a> posted a time of 3:10.97 to place first. The provisional mark is 17th-fastest in D-II.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSianez had an individual provisional mark as well. He placed sixth in the 200-meter with a time of 20.94, which is a new personal best.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nIn the 400-meter, LCU four runners in the top 10, including provisional marks from <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/mens-track-field\/roster\/reuel-campbell\/4976\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4976\" target=\"_blank\">Reuel Campbell<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/mens-track-field\/roster\/chris-moffett\/4986\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4986\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Moffett<\/a>. Campbell placed third, running the sixth-fastest D-II time this season at 46.54. Moffet&#8217;s time of 47.06 was good for fifth place.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Chaps got other strong performances from <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/mens-track-field\/roster\/matthew-gordon\/5006\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"5006\" target=\"_blank\">Matthew Gordon<\/a>, who took sixth in the 800, <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/mens-track-field\/roster\/alfons-rawall\/4989\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4989\" target=\"_blank\">Alfons Rawall<\/a>, who took third in the 5000, and Jaqualand Fields, whose time of 54.19 in the 400-meter hurdles placed him fifth.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLCU&#8217;s first two provisional marks of the 2026 season on the women&#8217;s side came in the exact same event. Both <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-track-field\/roster\/elizabeth-florez\/4941\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4941\" target=\"_blank\">Elizabeth Florez<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-track-field\/roster\/joy-egwu\/4940\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4940\" target=\"_blank\">Joy Egwu<\/a> placed in the top five in the 400-meter and recorded personal bests.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nFlorez placed second overall and ran a 54.47, while Egwu took fifth with a 54.73.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-track-field\/roster\/olivia-weider\/4959\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4959\" target=\"_blank\">Olivia Weider<\/a> had a strong showing in the 5000-meter, placing fifth with a time of 18:57.53.
