Severe weather risk is increasing Sunday as rounds of showers and thunderstorms continue across the San Antonio area, according to the National Weather Service.<\/a><\/p>\n

Meteorologists say<\/a> rain chances are around 80%, and while storms won\u2019t be constant everywhere, any that develop could bring brief heavy downpours, gusty winds, and a low chance for isolated severe weather.<\/p>\n

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the area under a Level 2 of 5 risk for severe storms. Highs will stay near the upper 70s with breezy conditions at times.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s plenty of moisture in place, which means storms that form will be able to produce heavy rain in a short amount of time. That increases the risk for localized flooding in spots that see repeated rounds of storms.<\/p>\n

In the Hill Country, including Fredericksburg and Gillespie County<\/a>, storm chances remain elevated as well. Some storms could become strong, with gusty winds and hail possible. A line of thunderstorms may move through early Sunday, with rainfall totals over the next few days ranging from a quarter inch up to around 2 inches, with higher amounts possible in heavier downpours, according to emergency officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Storm chances continue Sunday night before gradually easing after midnight.<\/p>\n
