A disturbing kind of content has been circulating across social media in recent years.<\/p>\n
Women respond to men flirting with them in public, and later see footage of their entire interaction posted to TikTok or Instagram. These are often filmed without their consent, and the perpetrators most commonly use Meta<\/a> glasses.<\/p>\n Several victims have spoken about this in the past, including one woman on TikTok who acknowledged that the video exists and is circulating, imploring the public to report it so it gets removed.<\/p>\n In a video that has garnered over 260,400 views, TikTok creator Mirta Iris Adame (@fitandblonde) says she became one of those women.<\/p>\n \u201cY\u2019all, I am aware of that video,\u201d Adame says. \u201cI really, really am.\u201d<\/p>\n She says people have been sending her the clip across multiple platforms.<\/p>\n \u201cI literally every single day keep getting a message on Facebook, a message on Instagram and on TikTok about it,\u201d Adame says, adding that the situation has been frustrating to deal with.<\/p>\n She says she takes issue with how the content is being made.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m more than anything just frustrated that this person is getting away with doing all of this, with recording women intoxicated,\u201d Adame says.<\/p>\n According to her, this wasn\u2019t an isolated case.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve seen in his page and his platform\u2026 somebody uses a platform to do that kind of thing, especially towards women,\u201d Adame says.<\/p>\n She says the interaction itself wasn\u2019t unusual for her, so she didn\u2019t think twice.<\/p>\n \u201cAs women, there\u2019s always going to be somebody who\u2019s gonna reach out to you, approach you, trying to flirt, trying to get your number,\u201d Adame says. \u201cIt\u2019s just the fact that this person posted something without my consent,\u201d Adame says. \u201cThat\u2019s where I really just don\u2019t appreciate it.\u201d<\/p>\n Now, she\u2019s asking others to help get the video taken down.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you do come across that video again, just report it,\u201d Adame says. \u201cReport this dude. Somebody needs to cancel him.\u201d<\/p>\n She also warned others to stay aware in public.<\/p>\n \u201cPlease be careful\u2026 now we have to watch out for men recording us with Meta glasses,\u201d Adame says. She adds that her encounter happened at a Walmart in the South Park Meadows area.<\/p>\n How Common Is This? <\/p>\n Videos like this have been showing up more frequently, with women sharing similar experiences.<\/p>\n In one case reported by CNN<\/a>, a woman said she was approached while waiting for her flight in an airport lounge in Washington, D.C. After agreeing to exchange numbers, she later discovered multiple videos of the man approaching women in airports.<\/p>\n According to the report, he asked for permission to post her video but never received it, and uploaded it anyway. The footage was also recorded using Meta glasses.<\/p>\n Responding to CNN, Meta Platforms has said its smart glasses include an LED light that turns on when recording is happening. This is meant to to signal to others nearby.<\/p>\n However, the publication notes that users can easily cover that light with accessories designed to block it.<\/p>\n The Mary Sue has reached out to Meta via email for comment and Adame via TikTok messages.<\/p>\n In the comments section, many viewers sided with Adame and called the behavior out.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s not ok, sorry this happened to you!\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cIn a place like Walmart, they can legally record you because it\u2019s a public setting,\u201d one user wrote. \u201cBut once they post that video on TikTok, you can still report it and request removal if it involves your face, feels like a privacy violation, or comes off as harassment even if the recording itself wasn\u2019t illegal,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n @fitandblonde<\/a> <\/p>\n Austin, Texas please make it stop.
