“This is the final step in the demolition of the coker units that began last year,” LyondellBasell said in a news release.<\/p>\n

HOUSTON \u2014 LyondellBasell imploded two structures at its southeast Houston Refinery Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

The company said the 350-feet-tall coker units have been inactive since it ended refining activities at the site in early 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“This is the final step in the demolition of the coker units that began last year,” LyondellBasell said in a news release.<\/p>\n

The demolition job was contracted to GSD Companies, who LyondellBasell said has experience in large industrial dismantling.<\/p>\n

“Extensive planning, engineering assessments, and regulatory reviews have guided the work to ensure safety and limit impacts to neighboring communities,” LyondellBasell said.<\/p>\n
