The Petersburg Lady Buffs softball team is this week’s Extra Innings Team of the Week after clinching the District Championship for the first time in program history. The Lady Buffs defeated Crosbyton 16-1 on Monday, riding a seven-game win streak that included a dramatic comeback win against Kress and dominant victories over several other opponents.<\/p>\n

On March 16, the Lady Buffs trailed Kress 36-16 before rallying for 20 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to force extra innings. They went on to win that game 42-41. The team then defeated Crosbyton 16-0, Kress 21-6, O’Donnell 26-10, and Claude 19-9 before this week’s games. Against Crosbyton on Monday, the Lady Buffs scored 7 runs in the 1st inning, 1 in the 2nd, and 8 in the 3rd to win 16-1 in just 3 innings. Kynlee Ovalle hit a home run and Natalie Lopez pitched a strong game.<\/p>\n

On March 16, the Lady Buffs rallied from a 20-point deficit to defeat Kress 42-41 in extra innings.On Monday, April 7, the Lady Buffs defeated Crosbyton 16-1 to clinch the District Championship.<\/p>\n
