A 16-year-old-Lubbock male has turned himself into authorities according to Lubbock Fire Rescue.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: The Most Wanted Fugitives in Lubbock In April<\/a><\/p>\n The arrest comes after last week’s news that authorities were searching for a suspect that allegedly started a fire at a Lubbock apartment complex. According to a press release from last week, crews were able put fire out quickly.<\/p>\n The Lubbock Fire Rescue Fire Marshal\u2019s Office is asking for the public\u2019s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect believed to have intentionally started a fire at an apartment complex near the 2300 Block of West Loop 289.<\/p>\n At approximately 4:00PM, Lubbock Fire Rescue received a 911 call reporting a fire that had started next to an apartment building and was rapidly spreading toward nearby structures. First-arriving units encountered heavy smoke coming from the rear of the apartment complex.<\/p>\n Fire crews acted quickly to contain and extinguish the fire before it could extend into the apartment building. The fire was contained to a patch of grass and a fence line, preventing further damage to the structure and surrounding residences.<\/p>\n Following the incident, Investigators with the Fire Marshal\u2019s Office reviewed surveillance footage from the area. The video appears to show an individual intentionally igniting the grass before fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n On Monday, KAMC<\/a> reported that the 16-year-old turned himself into his attorney and was taken to the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center. He is set to be charged with Arson in the 1st degree.<\/p>\n This is a developing story.
