EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 A Texas Tech Health El Paso faculty member was recognized with the Texas Tech University System\u2019s highest honor for accomplishments in education, receiving the Distinguished Teaching and Research Award on Monday.<\/p>\n
Rebecca Lee Campos, an assistant professor of family medicine, was chosen for the award by the Chancellor\u2019s Council and was formally recognized during a ceremony on Monday for her contributions to medical research. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s so flattering, and it\u2019s a privilege to be able to receive something like that,\u201d Campos said. \u201cAnd being here has given me an opportunity to see different ways that people have been called to serve our population and our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chancellor Brandon Creighton said Campos\u2019 impact reaches beyond the university. \u201cCertainly Dr. Campos\u2019 work extends well beyond this institution for the quality of care and access to care that is central to the mission of our Health Sciences Center,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Since 1996, around 300 faculty members across the Texas Tech University System have been honored with the Distinguished Teaching Award.<\/p>\n
