LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce will host the 2026 Community Prayer Luncheon on Thursday, May 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Knipling Education Conference Center at Covenant Medical Center.<\/p>\n
Lubbock Christian University is presenting the event.<\/p>\n
The venue is located on the sixth floor of the West Parking Garage at 21st Street and Louisville Avenue.<\/p>\n
The luncheon is held in observance of the National Day of Prayer.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the presenting sponsor, Lubbock Christian University is honored to join the Lubbock Chamber in observing the National Day of Prayer,\u201d Dr. Scott McDowell, president of LCU, said. \u201cThis community gathering is an incredible opportunity for us all to enjoy some fellowship and to reflect on what truly matters.\u201d<\/p>\n
Grant McCasland, head men\u2019s basketball coach at Texas Tech University, will serve as the keynote speaker. McCasland has led the Red Raiders to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.<\/p>\n
McCasland was recognized with the John Lotz \u201cBarnabas\u201d Coaching Award by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He and his wife, Cece, reside in Lubbock with their four children.<\/p>\n
The luncheon will also feature prayers led by Lubbock Mayor Mark McBrayer and Ben Alexander, CEO of Workforce Solutions.<\/p>\n
Tables are $500, with a special church rate of $320 per table. Individual tickets are $65.<\/p>\n
