COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M University System Chancellor Glenn Hegar said Susan Ballabina\u2019s decades of experience and understanding of the university culture made her the clear choice to lead Texas A&M University after years of leadership turnover. <\/p>\n
Hegar said Ballabina stood out from a large number of candidates from across the nation during the over six-month search for a new university president.<\/a> <\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s a Tarleton State graduate, a graduate of this university system, worked for over 30 years, has learned to work on very complex issues, wide range of issues across this system, understands how to get results,\u201d Hegar said. <\/p>\n Calm demeanor, decisive leadership <\/p>\n Hegar said Ballabina\u2019s experience and understanding of the system set her apart from other candidates. <\/p>\n \u201cShe understands the culture. She\u2019s a graduate of this system. She has worked in this system for over 30 years. And so that proven track record and someone who may have a calm demeanor, but with that being said, she\u2019s decisive. She\u2019s willing to take action to make sure and wants to propel and move this university to a higher status,\u201d Hegar said. <\/p>\n Stability after years of change <\/p>\n Hegar said he expects Ballabina to usher in an era of stability at the university after several years of change. <\/p>\n \u201cI want to make sure that we have a president that last for many years to come. I think that stability is important for this university, for the students, for the faculty, to increase our research volume that we do here at Texas A&M University, to move it higher up,\u201d Hegar said. <\/p>\n
