Huggins, after opening roughly a half-decade ago at the site. Patagonia\u00a0lists\u00a0one other store in Texas with an Austin locale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChanges in the surrounding neighborhood have made it difficult to maintain a long\u2011term, sustainable future for the location as the area has trended more toward restaurants and nightlife than retail foot traffic,\u201d Huggins said. \u201cThis move comes after careful deliberation and consideration for our team.\u201d\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>The company remains committed to serving dozens of wholesale partners the Dallas area along with outdoor sports community and local environmental activists, Huggins said. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The vibrant area of the city, near the downtown core, has seen more attention and questions about its nightlife scene of late. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/public-safety\/2026\/03\/19\/violent-crime-rose-in-deep-ellum-last-summer-heres-how-some-hope-to-stop-it\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Violent crime rose<\/a> in Deep Ellum last summer, and the entertainment district\u2019s managing nonprofit recently said it wants more city oversight of late-night venues,.<\/p>\n<p>The Patagonia store is on Main Street, near the western side of the neighborhood. On Patagonia\u2019s door Tuesday morning, a sign read, \u201cThank you so much for all the fun and memories here in Deep\u00a0Ellum.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While\u00a0Patagonia store is located away from some nearby construction activity, it\u2019s still in the Deep Ellum area where roadwork has been a challenge for some businesses. Retailer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/retail\/2025\/08\/21\/deep-ellum-clothing-shop-is-shutting-down-and-moving-to-austin\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nylo Wool<\/a> shut down last year and moved to another city, with the construction getting some of the blame. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Patagonia, which supports activism for different causes, is one of the more recognized names in outdoor gear, offering items such as puff jackets and backpacks along with\u00a0wetsuits and wading boots. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Dallas closure will affect a little more than a dozen employees, Huggins said. About half of them are retail employees who can apply for other roles within the company or take a severance package. The others are remote customer experience employees who are tied to the Dallas market, a regional hub.
