Corpus Christi police detain suspect in apartment break-ins<\/p>\n

CORPUS CHRISTI \u2014\u00a0 Police say drone surveillance helped lead to the arrest of a man accused of attempting to break into an apartment during an early-morning operation tied to an ongoing burglary investigation.<\/p>\n

The Corpus Christi Police Department said Jamille Dejuan Harris was arrested Sunday at an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Caravelle Parkway during a coordinated operation involving the Criminal Investigations Division Special Victims Unit, along with the Violent Crimes Unit, Gang Unit, Drone Team and Operations Division.<\/p>\n

Officials said the surveillance effort was part of an ongoing investigation into a series of early-morning apartment burglaries reported over the past 16 months near Weber Road and Holly Road.<\/p>\n

According to police, drone operators observed a suspicious individual around 4:40 a.m. moving between buildings at the complex. The suspect was seen entering a patio area, attempting to open a sliding glass door, and later looking into another apartment before continuing through the property.<\/p>\n

Police said officers detained Harris after identifying him at the scene. He was arrested on charges including burglary of a habitation, assault causing bodily injury and two counts of evading arrest or detention, according to Nueces County Jail records.<\/p>\n

Bond was set at $25,000 for the assault charge, $10,000 for one evading charge and $3,500 for the second evading charge. He remains held without bond on the burglary charge.<\/p>\n

Following the arrest, detectives executed a search warrant at Harris\u2019 nearby apartment within the same complex. Authorities said additional evidence linking him to at least one prior burglary was recovered, and the investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n

Police said the burglaries under investigation involved unauthorized entries into apartments, often during early morning hours, with victims in some cases reporting intruders inside their bedrooms. <\/p>\n

Officials said further charges may be filed.<\/p>\n
