The question before the Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo is whether the Lubbock charter or state election law should dictate the qualifications for this office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Boren wants the charter interpretation, which he would qualify under, while the city is using the state\u2019s law, which requires six months of residency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Boren has requested an emergency decision to force the city to accept his application.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It is unclear when the court could make a decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KCBD.
