{"id":250337,"date":"2026-04-15T03:39:22","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T03:39:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/250337\/"},"modified":"2026-04-15T03:39:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T03:39:22","slug":"plano-isd-board-approves-2026-2027-compensation-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/250337\/","title":{"rendered":"Plano ISD Board Approves 2026-2027 Compensation Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the April 7 meeting, the Plano ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2026\u20132027 compensation plan, continuing the district\u2019s efforts to attract and retain high\u2011quality staff who support students every day.<\/p>\n<p>For the 2026\u20132027 school year, the plan includes:<\/p>\n<p>\tA new starting certified teacher salary of $64,000, or $66,000 for teachers with a master\u2019s degree<br \/>\n\tA minimum 2 percent raise for eligible employees<br \/>\n\tA $330 per month healthcare benefit contribution<br \/>\n\tTargeted market rate adjustments in key positions based on state and regional data<br \/>\n\tContinued low\u2011cost employee childcare and after\u2011school care options<br \/>\n\tContinued use of the 2025\u20132026 bachelor\u2019s new-hire schedule as the pay schedule for uncertified teaching staff, in alignment with House Bill 2<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year, our Board made an unprecedented investment in our staff, and tonight\u2019s action continues that progress in a careful, thoughtful way,\u201d said Plano ISD Superintendent Dr. Theresa Williams. \u201c These adjustments come at a time when school districts across Texas are navigating ongoing funding challenges, yet Plano ISD remains focused on keeping compensation competitive and honoring the commitment of our employees. The plan reflects both responsible stewardship of resources and deep appreciation for the work they do for students and families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At a March work session, Chief of Employee Services Dr. Duana Kindle shared that returning teachers received an average raise of 6.92 percent in 2025\u20132026, while all other staff received a 3 percent raise, and that Plano ISD invested about $3.2 million beyond state requirements to enhance raises. She also noted that recent changes moved Plano ISD from sixth to fourth in starting teacher pay among comparable districts, while the district maintains a shorter teacher work calendar than many peers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlano ISD has a long history of valuing and investing in our employees,\u201d said Board President Dr. Lauren Tyra. \u201cOur goal is to keep compensation competitive and sustainable so we can continue to recruit and retain talented professionals in every role.
