{"id":250688,"date":"2026-04-15T09:36:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T09:36:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/250688\/"},"modified":"2026-04-15T09:36:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T09:36:08","slug":"this-corpus-christi-site-could-land-a-12m-hotel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/250688\/","title":{"rendered":"This Corpus Christi site could land a $12M hotel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new $12 million hotel could be coming soon to the heart of a major Texas\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/business\/article\/hooters-corpus-christi-22204020.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">coastal city<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The hotel would stand five stories tall and feature 119 rooms, a pool and a pool building, according to the April 13\u00a0TDLR filing. The Element by Westin would be located at 5909 South Padre Island Dr., Corpus Christi, TX 78412. Construction could begin as soon as August of this year and be completed by early 2028, TDLR records show. Currently, the 2.15-acre site lies vacant. Immediately to the north, toward SPI Drive, lies a Golden Corral restaurant and a Cheddar\u2019s Scratch Kitchen. And hemming the property in on the west, south and east are a Hampton Inn &amp; Suites, a Motel 6 and the La Quinta Inn &amp; Suites by Wyndham Corpus Christi Southeast, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Element hotels are longer-term stay hotels that offer a more upscale experience. Rooms are spacious and feature \u201cspa-like baths with refreshing rain showers,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/element-hotels.marriott.com\/experience\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">according to the company\u2019s website<\/a>. The hotel\u2019s rooms also feature in-room kitchens with two-burner range tops, dishwashers, full-sized refrigerators and a microwave. The hotel uses low-flow plumbing fixtures, incorporates several amenities made from recycled materials, and includes electric vehicle charging stations onsite.<\/p>\n<p>Nueces County property records show the 2.15-acre parcel is owned by Infra Tech Ventures LLC, a property investment firm owned by Corpus Christi hotelier Ajit David, who is currently embroiled in a lawsuit against the city over another hotel development project. In 2024, David alleged that a $2 million economic incentive deal city leaders granted to one of his competitors who sought to build a Hilton Homewood Suites hotel downtown involved fraud. MySA reached out to David for comment about this latest hotel project but had not heard back by the time of publication.<\/p>\n<p>The case remains mired in the courts and has most recently spawned a citizen petition to oust Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette from office.\u00a0Last month, a split Corpus Christi City Council voted 5-to-3 to move the petition forward and begin the removal process. On Thursday morning, however, a federal judge\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.txsd.2076702\/gov.uscourts.txsd.2076702.8.0.pdf\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">issued a temporary restraining order<\/a> blocking the city from taking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kristv.com\/news\/local-news\/in-your-neighborhood\/corpus-christi\/federal-judge-blocks-suspension-of-corpus-christi-mayor\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">any action against\u00a0Guajardo<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A new $12 million hotel could be coming soon to the heart of a major Texas\u00a0coastal city.
