Thankfully, Houston has a bunch. From bohemian hole-in-the-walls, to <a href=\"https:\/\/secrethouston.com\/oldest-bar-in-houston\/\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secrethouston.com\/oldest-bar-in-houston\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_1\" data-category=\"click_internal\">haunted wine dens<\/a>, and everything in between, there\u2019s much from which to pick your poison in Space City. However, only one city dive got a shoutout on Southern Living\u2019s recent list of the \u201c25 Legendary Dive Bars In The South\u201d: Dixie Chicken in College Station.<\/p>\n<p>Opened in 1974, the Dixie Chicken is a famed College Station dive. \u201cThe oldest bar in Northgate\u201d has hosted Aggies across generations with countless stories under its belt-buckle. The venue houses a kitchen serving burgers, sandwiches, and classic fare alongside pitchers of cold beer.<\/p>\n<p>The Dixie Chicken was one of three Texas dive bars to make Southern Living\u2019s list, in company with Donn\u2019s Depot in Austin and Planet Marfa in Marfa.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what Southern Living had to say of the Dixie Chicken:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince 1974, Dixie Chicken has been a hotbed for Texas A&amp;M University students, locals, and alumni.
