SAN ANTONIO \u2014 The Judson Independent School District Board of Trustees voted on Tuesday to cut 7% of its staff in an effort to balance the budget.<\/p>\n

According to the San Antonio Express-News<\/a>, the trustees voted 6-1 to eliminate 536 positions for next school year as part of the district\u2019s efforts to close a projected $35 million shortfall.<\/p>\n

The cuts come after the board previously voted to close four campuses: three elementary schools and one middle school, which will eliminate 284 positions, according to the Express-News. The campuses being closed are Judson Middle School, Park Village Blended Learning Academy, Franz Leadership Academy and Rolling Meadows Elementary.<\/p>\n

During the special meeting Tuesday night, the board also voted to approve the new campus boundaries for the 2026-27 school year. The zoning changes were voted on to reassign students from the four campuses that will close next year.<\/p>\n

Judson ISD has also faced a change in leadership after the board voted to terminate<\/a> Superintendent Milton Fields\u2019 contract in early February.<\/p>\n
