{"id":251706,"date":"2026-04-15T23:54:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T23:54:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/251706\/"},"modified":"2026-04-15T23:54:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T23:54:07","slug":"james-hartshorn-to-serve-as-pflugervilles-next-city-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/251706\/","title":{"rendered":"James Hartshorn to serve as Pflugerville&#8217;s next city manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPflugerville city officials announced April 15 that current deputy city manager James Hartshorn will serve as the next <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pflugervilletx.gov\/180\/City-Manager\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">city manager<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The details<\/p>\n<p>Per a news release, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pflugervilletx.gov\/178\/City-Council-Mayor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pflugerville City Council<\/a> voted April 14 to direct the mayor to begin negotiations with Hartshorn to serve as the next city manager. Once negotiations are finalized and an agreement is approved by City Council, Hartshorn will succeed current city manager Sereniah Breland following her retirement on July 1.<\/p>\n<p>Hartshorn started as Pflugerville&#8217;s assistant city manager in 2019 and was promoted to deputy city manager in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJames has demonstrated strong leadership, a deep understanding of our organization and a genuine commitment to the Pflugerville community,\u201d Mayor Doug Weiss said in the release. \u201cJames stepped into the role as acting city manager last fall during the city manager\u2019s leave of absence, where he showed his ability to lead the organization, maintain momentum on key priorities and deliver results. These qualities make him an outstanding choice to serve as our next city manager.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Get involved <\/p>\n<p>A community introduction with Hartshorn will be held April 25 from 10-11 a.m. at the Pflugerville Justice Center.<\/p>\n<p>Quote of note<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an exciting but challenging time for Pflugerville as we balance investing in infrastructure and services to meet growing needs while remaining mindful of taxpayer impact and protecting Pflugerville\u2019s unique character,&#8221; Hartshorn said. &#8220;As city manager, I will focus on executing the council\u2019s priorities with clarity, consistency and a commitment to long-term success.
