{"id":251734,"date":"2026-04-16T00:17:30","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T00:17:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/251734\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T00:17:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T00:17:30","slug":"el-paso-community-foundation-hosting-pop-up-lunch-celebrating-inclusive-culinary-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/251734\/","title":{"rendered":"El Paso Community Foundation hosting pop-up lunch celebrating inclusive culinary program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EL PASO, Texas (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ktsm.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:KTSM;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">KTSM<\/a>) \u2014\u00a0The El Paso Community Foundation invites residents to support a unique culinary initiative with a special pop-up lunch on Saturday, April 18, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mexican American Cultural Center.<\/p>\n<p>The event will celebrate the first graduating cohort of the foundation\u2019s \u201cLet\u2019s Cook\u201d program, an eight-week course designed to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), according to a news release from the foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said participants have spent weeks building skills in food preparation, kitchen safety, and teamwork, culminating in the opportunity to prepare and serve a meal to the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event is a chance for the community to see the impact of the program firsthand,\u201d said Adam Tirres in a statement to KTSM. \u201cOur participants have worked incredibly hard, and this lunch is both a celebration of their achievements and an opportunity to support inclusive programming in El Paso.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Organizers say the \u201cLet\u2019s Cook\u201d program aims to foster independence, promote healthy living, and open doors to future employment in the food service industry, all within a supportive environment. Tickets for the lunch are priced at $20 for adults and $8 for children and must be purchased in advance.
