Others reminded Fiestagoers to check the weather forecast ahead of time and to never wear flip-flops. One local under\u00a0a Facebook post <\/a>recommended bringing hand sanitizer and wipes for a long day of parades and partying. Meanwhile, some other ways to keep costs down are to work an event as a volunteer and take the Via Park & Ride.<\/p>\n According to one local, failing to research the events beforehand could “ruin your [Fiesta] experience.” “There is something for everyone,” the commenter said, but finding an event that fits your vibe is the key to a good time \u2014 whether that be a music festival like La Semana Alegre<\/a> or a parade like Battle of Flowers.\u00a0<\/p>\n However, one tip stood out from the rest. It’s no surprise that porta-potty\u00a0lines may stretch on, but a few commenters said a Fiesta must-have is a roll of toilet paper. This will keep you prepared in case public restrooms run out.<\/p>\n The City of San Antonio also shared some tips for Fiesta<\/a>, including safety measures, parking and more. Officials warned against drunk driving and advised locals to designate a sober driver or use a ride-share service to get home if they plan on drinking.<\/p>\n According to the city’s tips,\u00a0Fiestagoers should stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoiding alcohol, as well as large amounts of caffeine and sugar. They also recommend wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen, bringing a spray bottle of water for misting, wearing light-weight clothing and seeking air conditioning when possible.\u00a0<\/p>\n As for parking <\/a>and getting around, the city recommends ride-shares, taxis, bikes and the VIA system. Park & Ride will be available for multiple Fiesta events, and VIA Link will provide rides for $1.30 within its downtown service area. Additionally, the St. Mary’s Garage on East Travis Street and the City Tower Garage on North Flores Street are within walking distance from the River Walk, Houston Street and Main Plaza \u2014 locals\u00a0can expect rates of up to $15 in city-owned parking structures. Keep in mind that Downtown Tuesday<\/a> \u2014 which provides free parking in city-owned garages and lots every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. \u2014 will not be\u00a0in effect during Fiesta.\u00a0<\/p>\n Be sure to check for street closures and parade route closures ahead of time.<\/p>\n
