The city of Dallas is asking developers, architects, urban planners and others who have ideas about redevelopment at the much-debated Dallas City Hall site and surrounding acreage to submit concepts by early May.<\/p>\n

Concepts should be preliminary, Mayor Eric Johnson wrote in his weekly newsletter<\/a> , noting that “detailed architectural designs, engineering plans, and budgets are not required.”<\/p>\n

The call for concepts process is not a formal procurement or development solicitation but instead seeks to gather ideas from Dallas residents, stakeholders, architects, designers, urban planners, developers and community organizations, the website states. The city wants the concept submissions to spell out whether they would preserve the building or redevelop the broader property, and how proposals might align with plans for the nearby convention center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Aside from the concept submission process, Dallas City Council Members Paula Blackmon and Paul Ridley are hosting a public meeting to gather feedback on the future of City Hall. The town hall session<\/a> is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 21 at the Latino Cultural Center at 2600 Live Oak St. Blackmon, who represents the Lakewood area, and Ridley, who represents Uptown, Oak Lawn and East Dallas, have both voiced strong opposition to moving City Hall.<\/p>\n
