\n\tCountry music has generated no shortage of unprecedented chart accomplishments in recent years, reflecting the format\u2019s expanding reach. Those moments have arrived in many forms: viral debuts, chart-sweeping album releases and crossover hits that have climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tBillboard\u2019s Chart Beat<\/a> has chronicled those achievements as they\u2019ve unfolded. Viewed together, they offer a snapshot of country music\u2019s place in today\u2019s broader music economy \u2014 a format capable of producing dominant music driving massive consumption and competing at the top of Billboard\u2019s rankings.<\/p>\n

\n\tOverall, as analyzed<\/a> by Hit Songs Deconstructed, country has been the third-biggest primary genre the past three years (after perennial powerhouses pop and R&B\/hip-hop), up to a 17% share of Hot 100 top 10s in 2025. \u201cThis was largely driven by Morgan Wallen<\/a>, who accounted for nine of the year\u2019s 11 country top 10s,\u201d the company\u2019s year-end research pointed out.<\/p>\n

\n\tWallen has been one of the most prominent stars in terms of chart-topping successes as the decade has progressed, breaking numerous records on all-genre and country charts. Also in the headline-making mix: Megan Moroney<\/a>, Jelly Roll<\/a>, Shaboozey<\/a>, Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>, Dolly Parton<\/a> and more.<\/p>\n

\n\tMost recently, Ella Langley<\/a> has added chapters to country\u2019s chart record books, thanks to her commands on the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs<\/a> with \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBelow, browse through a rundown of artists, albums and songs that have helped make the 2020s one of the most prolific in all of country music\u2019s rich history, with their milestones illustrating how the genre continues to shape the broader chart landscape.<\/p>\n

\tLangley Hits New Hot 100 High for Women<\/p>\n

\n\tWith a fourth week at No. 1<\/a> on the Hot 100 (dated March 28, 2026), \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d solely claimed the most weeks ever spent atop the chart for a song by a woman that also hit No. 1 on Hot Country Songs. It one-upped Taylor Swift\u2019s three-week Hot 100 reign with \u201cWe Are Never Ever Getting Back Together\u201d in 2012.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d has since upped its runs to six weeks at No. 1<\/a> on the Hot 100 and a landmark 20 atop Hot Country Songs (through charts dated April 18).<\/p>\n

\t\u2018Texas\u2019 Two-Step<\/p>\n

\n\tLangley controlled the top two spots<\/a> on the Hot Country Songs charts dated March 14 and 21, with \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d at No. 1 and \u201cBe Her\u201d at No. 2. The feat made her the first woman with such a double-up for multiple weeks, and the third to place titles at Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously at all, following Beyonc\u00e9 and Swift. The songs have also been Nos. 1 and 2 together on the April 11 and 18 tallies.<\/p>\n

\tBack to Abilene, And No. 1<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d returned to No. 1<\/a> on Country Airplay<\/a> for a third week in charge (March 14). It led again after a three-week absence, the longest before a song had reclaimed the summit in the chart\u2019s history, dating to its 1990 start.<\/p>\n

\tMoroney & Langley Share a Chart First<\/p>\n

\n\tMegan Moroney and Langley became the first women<\/a> who primarily record country music to rule the all-genre Billboard 200<\/a> and Hot 100 (March 7) simultaneously, thanks to Cloud 9 and \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas,\u201d respectively.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAs country music continues to grow, it\u2019s reassuring to finally see hard-earned room for two instead of just one, especially in a moment when even having just the one hardly feels guaranteed,\u201d Natalie Weiner wrote<\/a> for Billboard that week. \u201cLangley, Moroney and all the other women on and off the country charts aren\u2019t trying to be exceptions, nor are they even trying explicitly to rewrite the rulebook that\u2019s designed to stifle them. They\u2019re just trying to get the slice of that pie that was meant to be theirs all along.\u201d<\/p>\n

\t\u2018Texas\u2019 Triples Up<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d was champion on the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts (Feb. 14) concurrently, marking a rare triple coronation<\/a> and making the song the first by a woman to rule all three rankings at once.<\/p>\n

\t37 Songs? No \u2018Problem\u2019<\/p>\n

\n\tAs his album I\u2019m the Problem launched at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Wallen placed a weekly-record 37 songs<\/a> on the Hot 100 (May 31, 2025). He photo-finished above his own previous high for the most simultaneous entries by an artist (36), making for another benchmark in his era of chart dominance.<\/p>\n

\tHonestly, That\u2019s Impressive<\/p>\n

\n\tAlong with his first eight-and-counting singles promoted to country radio hitting No. 1 on Country Airplay, Jelly Roll has topped Mainstream Rock Airplay<\/a> with all four of his entries on that chart, through \u201cLiar\u201d (Dec. 7, 2024). He\u2019s the only soloist with four out-of-the-gate leaders<\/a> at the rock format.<\/p>\n

\t\u2018Tipsy\u2019-Top Shape<\/p>\n

\n\tShaboozey\u2019s \u201cA Bar Song (Tipsy)\u201d logged a record-tying 19th week at No. 1 on the Hot 100 (Nov. 30), matching the longest reign<\/a> to that point in the chart\u2019s history. The total tied Lil Nas X\u2019s \u201cOld Town Road\u201d (featuring Billy Ray Cyrus), which set the mark in 2019. The songs remain tied for the longest-leading hits among male artists (with Mariah Carey\u2019s \u201cAll I Want for Christmas Is You\u201d unwrapping the overall title<\/a> in 2025).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThank you so much for listening to the song, buying the song, radio for playing the song. I can\u2019t believe it,\u201d Shaboozey marveled<\/a> to Billboard after he matched the longevity mark. \u201cI spent so much of my life working and just trying to get here and, because of you guys, my life is forever changed. Love y\u2019all. Cowboys are forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tHats Off to Beyonc\u00e9<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking of cowboys, and cowgirls, Beyonc\u00e9 debuted at No. 1<\/a> on Top Country Albums<\/a> (April 13) with Cowboy Carter, marking the first time that a Black woman had led the chart over its history. The release also produced an unprecedented showing on Hot Country Songs, where she held the top three spots simultaneously, becoming the only woman to earn the honor.<\/p>\n

\tCountry & R&B\/Hip-Hop Royalty<\/p>\n

\n\tBeyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u201cTexas Hold \u2019Em\u201d debuted at No. 1<\/a> on Hot Country Songs (Feb. 24). Thanks to Cowboy Carter\u2019s lead single, she became the first woman to have led both Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B\/Hip-Hop Songs<\/a> since the charts became the respective genres\u2019 main songs surveys in 1958. She boasts 10 Hot R&B\/Hip-Hop Songs No. 1s as a soloist, to go along with Destiny\u2019s Child\u2019s four leaders with her as a member.<\/p>\n

\tSmith\u2019s Perfect 10<\/p>\n

\n\tNate Smith\u2019s \u201cWorld on Fire\u201d smoldered for a 10th week<\/a> at No. 1 on Country Airplay (Feb. 24). The song tied Wallen\u2019s \u201cYou Proof\u201d (2022-23) for the most time on top in the chart\u2019s archives.<\/p>\n

\tDolly Rolls to New High<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter first appearing on the Billboard 200 in 1969, Dolly Parton earned her highest rank on the chart dated Dec. 2, 2023, when Rockstar premiered<\/a> at No. 3. It became her ninth No. 1 on Top Country Albums and first on Top Rock & Alternative Albums<\/a>. The year before, she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. (She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPeople usually [say] \u2018Dolly rocks\u2019 or \u2018you rock\u2019 or \u2018you\u2019re a rock star.\u2019 I thought they just meant that I was cool, and I took that as a great compliment,\u201d Parton told Billboard<\/a> in 2022. \u201cBut now I\u2019m going to have to take it literally!\u201d<\/p>\n

\tOliver Anthony\u2019s Good Fortunes<\/p>\n

\n\tOliver Anthony Music\u2019s viral breakout \u201cRich Men North of Richmond\u201d debuted at No. 1<\/a> on the Hot 100 (Aug. 26), making him the first artist ever to open atop the chart without previously appearing on any Billboard ranking. The song arrived to buzzy online attention and strong digital sales.<\/p>\n

\t\u2018Fast Car\u2019 Rides to a First<\/p>\n

\n\tLuke Combs\u2019 version of \u201cFast Car\u201d reached No. 1 on Country Airplay (July 8), giving Tracy Chapman a historic achievement<\/a> as its writer: she became the first Black woman to have solely penned a Country Airplay No. 1. Her original version reached No. 6 on the Hot 100 in 1988, sparking her Grammy win for best new artist<\/a>. She and Combs duetted on \u201cFast Car\u201d on the Grammys stage in 2024, making for, as Combs called it, and in multiple ways, a \u201cfull-circle moment.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\t\u2018Dangerous\u2019 Dominates<\/p>\n

\n\tThe origins of country\u2019s recent commands trace to early this decade. Wallen\u2019s 2021 set Dangerous: The Double Album notched its record-extending 97th<\/a> and most recent week on top on the March 11, 2023, Top Country Albums chart.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe bad news: the following week, the LP fell to No. 2. The good news: It was dethroned by Wallen\u2019s follow-up, One Thing at a Time, which has gone to total 87 weeks at No 1, second-best in the chart\u2019s history. With I\u2019m the Problem up to 44 weeks at No. 1 through the April 18, 2026, tally, and including the two weeks on top for his If I Know Me in 2020, Wallen has run up a record 230 weeks<\/a> at No. 1 combined.<\/p>\n
