The company features products from hundreds of business owners, some of whom say they were given no warning about its forthcoming disappearance.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-channels-pixel.ex.co\/events\/0012000001fxZm9AAE?integrationType=DEFAULT&amp;template=design%2Farticle%2Fplatypus_two_column.tpl\" alt=\"\" class=\"x1px y1px vh abs\" aria-hidden=\"true\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/paintedtree.com\/our-story\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Painted Tree Boutiques<\/a> allowed individuals to apply to be a seller and, upon approval, display their items in some of its\u00a060 locations across the U.S., including in San Antonio, Austin, and Frisco. Its website describes it\u00a0as &#8220;an Etsy marketplace and Pinterest catalog come to life&#8221; and a place where people can &#8220;live out their entrepreneurial dreams.&#8221; Citing changes in the retail landscape, rising costs, and market conditions, its last day of operation was Monday, April 13. They say that there may have been indications that the situation was turning sour, as Painted Tree switched to a new payment system in October 2025. However, Hopkin\u00a0says that\u00a0corporate officials had been sending messages about hiring more staff and other changes it was making &#8220;to fix the issues.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A lot of us thought the issues would get resolved and things would work out,&#8221; Hopkin said, &#8220;Now that this has happened, it is clear that they were waving one hand to distract us from what the other hand was doing &#8230; The news of the PT collapse was not only a shock to the system but a devastating blow to our business.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hopkin has already removed their collection, which ranges from embroidered items to licensed collegiate merchandise,\u00a0from Sunset Valley. If they had given us some time, it would have benefited the vendors tremendously. A &#8220;skeleton crew&#8221; will be resent to help, the message reads, though the chain added &#8220;access to stores is subject to\u00a0 landlord decisions&#8221; and owners were encouraged to retrieve their products &#8220;as soon as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Some owners, like Edge81 Jewelry Studio &amp; Permanent Jewelry and Chasing Camilla, are pivoting by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DXJ6jQNjU6B\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ%3D%3D\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">hosting local pop-ups<\/a>. It takes place on Wednesday, April 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at\u00a0239 Millwood Lane. They say there are &#8220;plenty&#8221; of units still available for lease.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s terrible what happened at Painted Tree and how all those vendors are scrambling to remove their items,&#8221; Tovar said. &#8220;We\u2019d love to be able to help and accommodate them. We are offering the first months rent free.
