GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Heavy law enforcement presence is visible in the Bacliff area at the home of James Elmore Jr., who was recently charged in connection with the Texas Killing Fields murders.<\/p>\n
Elmore was arrested at the end of March and charged with manslaughter and tampering in connection with the 1984 murder of Laura Miller, as well as an additional tampering with evidence charge in the 1986 death of Audrey Lee Cook.<\/p>\n
The cases drew national attention, as they centered near the intersection of Calder Road and Ervin Street in League City. Between 1984 and 1991, four women’s bodies, including Miller and Cook, were found. The identities of the other two victims were Heidi Fye-Villareal and Donna Prudhomme.<\/p>\n
Elmore has been in jail since his arrest.<\/p>\n
On Thursday morning, multiple law enforcement agencies were spotted at Elmore’s home. Authorities said this is due to the execution of a search warrant.<\/p>\n
While details are still limited, Galveston County District Attorney Kenneth Cusick is slated to make a brief statement about this at 9:15 a.m.<\/p>\n
