It’s the second biggest canyon in the United States, and offers hiking, camping, and breathtaking views. You can also catch the outdoor musical at night! Pro tip: Go early in the day to avoid melting in the sun.<\/p>\n Buffalo Springs Lake (30 minutes away)<\/a><\/p>\n I almost didn’t put this one on the list because it’s a no-brainer, but you never know who might be new to Lubbock. If you’ve never been out to Buffalo Lake, it’s a quick escape that offers fishing and boating, plus, there is zero long drive required to get there.<\/p>\n Carlsbad Caverns (4 hours away)<\/a>Photo by Hoyt Roberson<\/a> on Unsplash<\/a><\/p>\n My family visited nearly every single year when I was growing up, and it was so much fun! You can watch thousands of bats fly out at sunset. The cave is soooo massive it doesn’t feel real. It’s hot and chaotic in Galveston, but that’s totally different from West Texas! The point was to get out of town and do something wild!
