It certainly seems like the Stars and Mavs are working to break their leases at the AAC sooner rather than later. A popular landing place for the Stars\u2019 new arena is the site of Willow Bend Mall in Plano.<\/p>\n
And while any relocation has yet to be confirmed, the owners of the Willow Bend Mall have announced plans to tear down the shopping center within the next year.<\/p>\n
Centennial CEO Steven Levin and Bill Cawley of Cawley Partners told the Dallas Morning News<\/a><\/p>\n that the ownership group is moving forward with plans to \u201credevelop the site.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re working on the [demolition] plans and timing. Exact timing is probably within 12 months,\u201d Levin said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re ready to go. We have nothing that is preventing us from starting the execution on the vision that we set out to create at the beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n The new property, which will be renamed \u201cThe Bend\u201d had initial plans for 800,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space, up to 965 residential units, a high-rise hotel, and a midrise office building. <\/p>\n While Plano city leaders say they have had \u201cearnest discussions\u201d with the Stars\u201d regarding a potential arena district” where the mall currently resides, Cawley and Levin declined to comment on negotiations between the Stars and Plano officials regarding a new arena at the property.<\/p>\n LISTEN <\/a>on the Audacy App
