At least two more Houston\u00a0ISD officials will join the upper ranks of Fort Worth ISD\u00a0under new state-appointed leadership.<\/p>\n
The leadership announcement signals that elements of Houston\u00a0ISD’s reforms could be implemented in the North Texas school district that serves about 70,000 students \u2014 now the second-largest school district after HISD to be taken over by the state<\/a>.<\/p>\n Shon Joseph, previously an HISD executive director, began leading Wheatley<\/a> near the beginning of the 2025-26 school year. It is unclear when Joseph will formally leave\u00a0HISD to begin in Fort Worth, but his departure would become Wheatley’s third principal change<\/a> under state-appointed leadership. Years prior, Wheatley’s consecutive failing ratings<\/a> triggered HISD’s takeover in June 2023.<\/p>\n Kyndra Tyler, an HISD executive director of instruction, will also join Fort Worth\u00a0as one of the four new regional chiefs.<\/p>\n “I am honored to work alongside outstanding leaders and talented educators in\u00a0FWISD,” Tyler posted Thursday on LinkedIn.<\/p>\n In March, HISD’s former central division chief, Daniel Soliz<\/a>, announced his departure for Fort Worth.
