{"id":253027,"date":"2026-04-16T19:02:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T19:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/253027\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T19:02:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T19:02:08","slug":"houston-area-distribution-center-to-cut-168-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/253027\/","title":{"rendered":"Houston-area distribution center to cut 168 jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW CANEY, Texas \u2014 Florida-based supply chain company Saddle Creek Logistics is planning layoffs at its distribution facility near Houston.<\/p>\n<p>Saddle Creek, which specializes in warehousing, transportation and order fulfillment, plans to lay off 168 employees at its warehouse at 18777 Industrial Parkway in New Caney, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter the company sent to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/houston\/organization\/texas-workforce-commission\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Workforce Commission<\/a>. Saddle Creek operates a 1.5 million-square-foot facility at the location on behalf of one of its clients, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sclogistics.com\/our-network\/locations\/new-caney-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to its website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The layoffs will occur on June 11. The affected employees do not have bumping rights and are not represented by a union.<\/p>\n<p>Of the employees being laid off, 115 are forklift operators, according to the WARN letter.
