Firefighter injured during welfare check breach, woman in custody after standoff<\/a><\/p>\nThe San Antonio Police said 30-year-old Zhen Qin was charged with aggravated assault of a public servant and illegal entry from a foreign nation.<\/p>\n
Authorities responded around 1 p.m. to a standoff at Lark San Antonio, an off-campus student apartment complex on Market Hill Boulevard near Loop 1604 on the Far Northwest Side.<\/p>\n
Police said the incident began as a welfare check after management was unable to contact Qin, who previously lived in the unit, which was believed to have been vacant since the end of March. Emergency crews were called to ensure her safety.<\/p>\n
When responders breached the door, police say Qin was armed with a knife and struck a San Antonio Fire Department firefighter. The firefighter suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.<\/p>\n
The woman then barricaded herself in a back area of the apartment before officers were able to take her into custody without further incident.<\/p>\n
