El Paso is coming together for an important cause this month as the Guardians of the Children Sun City <\/a>hosts its inaugural Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness (CAPA) event.<\/p>\n

The free, family-friendly event will take place on April 18 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Barnett Harley-Davidson, bringing together community resources, entertainment, and support for families in need.<\/p>\n

April is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, and the City of El Paso has officially proclaimed April 14 as Guardians of the Children Day, highlighting the organization\u2019s impact in the community.<\/p>\n

El Paso Invited to Child Abuse Awareness Event Supporting Local Families<\/p>\n

Guardians of the Children<\/a> is a nonprofit child advocacy group rooted in the motorcycle community, dedicated to supporting children and families navigating crisis situations. Members work closely with families, offering support through difficult processes like court proceedings while helping children rebuild confidence and a sense of safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cKeep in mind, this could be your neighbor or one of your child\u2019s classmates going through something difficult,\u201d said Repeat, GOC Board Secretary. “That\u2019s why it\u2019s so important for our community to come together to make sure kids get to do what they\u2019re meant to do\u2026 be kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

The CAPA event will feature 14 community resource organizations, along with games for kids, a possible toy walk, food vendors, and appearances from local first responders, including police, fire, and SWAT teams.<\/p>\n

Attendees can also take part in a $25 raffle for a chance to win a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, with all proceeds directly supporting the organization\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the coolest things happening is the launch of our raffle for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle,\u201d said Doc, GOC Board President. “For $25, you get a chance to win a motorcycle, and every single dollar goes directly toward our mission. We\u2019re all volunteers, so everything raised supports the kids and families we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Organizers say the goal is simple but powerful: bring the community together, raise awareness, and ensure that every child feels supported.<\/p>\n

Because at the end of the day, every child deserves the chance to just be a kid.<\/p>\n
