The Arlington Police Department has arrested two teens in connection to a March 2026 crash that resulted in the death of 53-year-old Tanya Cypert.<\/p>\n
Following a thorough investigation, APD Accident Investigators obtained warrants for the arrests of 18-year-old Adam Hamad and a juvenile male on one count of Racing on Highway Causing Death. On April 15, 2026, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located both teens in Arlington and took them into custody without incident.<\/p>\n
Mr. Hamad was booked into the Arlington City Jail. The juvenile male was booked into the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center.<\/p>\n
On March 6, 2026, investigators responded to a fatality crash near the intersection of S. Cooper Street and Eden Road. They determined Ms. Cypert, who was driving a 2022 Hyundai Tucson, attempted to make a left turn from S. Cooper Street onto Eden Road and was struck by a 2025 Mercedes Benz C300 traveling northbound on S. Cooper Street at a high rate of speed. Ms. Cypert was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced deceased from her injuries. Mr. Hamad was identified as the driver of the Mercedes.<\/p>\n
Multiple witnesses reported the Mercedes and other vehicles appeared to be racing prior to the crash, speeding, weaving in and out of the lanes of traffic without signaling, and revving their engines. Investigators later reviewed surveillance video from a nearby business that supported those claims.<\/p>\n
Data from the Mercedes\u2019 airbag control module showed Mr. Hamad was driving in excess of 100 mph when the crash occurred. The posted speed limit along that stretch of S. Cooper Street is 45 mph.<\/p>\n
The juvenile male was driving a 2012 Lexus IS that was not involved in the crash but based on witness statements and surveillance footage is believed to have been racing the Mercedes, traveling in excess of 85 mph along S. Cooper Street. Investigators continue to examine whether a third vehicle was also racing prior to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
Due to the age of the juvenile driver, the department is unable to release his name.<\/p>\n

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a traffic collision that resulted in the death of a 53-year-old woman.<\/p>\n
On Friday, March 6, 2026, at approximately 12:34 P.M., officers responded to the intersection of S. Cooper Street and Eden Road after receiving reports of a major crash involving two vehicles.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived on scene, they located the driver of a 2022 Hyundai Tucson, a 53-year-old woman, who required emergency medical attention. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n
Preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred when a 2025 Mercedes-Benz C300 traveling northbound on S. Cooper Street collided with the Hyundai Tucson. Investigators believe the Hyundai was traveling southbound and was in the turn lane attempting to make a left turn at the time of the collision.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, an adult male, was also injured in the crash and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n
Crash investigators believe speed may have played a role in the collision. Although it has not yet been confirmed, investigators are also working to determine whether the driver of the Mercedes-Benz was engaged in street racing prior to the crash.<\/p>\n
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to review evidence and speak with all involved parties.<\/p>\n
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office will release the identity of the deceased once next of kin have been notified.<\/p>\n
