He had 302 tackles, 19 passes defended and seven interceptions over a career that included All-Big 12 honors. There was no cause of death given in reports by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbtx.com\/2026\/04\/16\/former-am-safety-dies-36\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">KBTX-TV <\/a>and others.<\/p>\n<p>Some former players and\u00a0fans shared their condolences for Hunter.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Katyfootball\/status\/2044536715826602480\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Katy football X account<\/a> on Wednesday posted a high school highlight video of Trent with the message: &#8220;Sadly, we received word that former Tiger @trenthunter01 has passed. Thoughts and prayers to the Hunter family. R.I.P Trent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One fan wrote about how they enjoyed watching him play. Another reminisced on his days at Katy and his engagement with local fans. &#8220;Trent was a heck of a football player and leader and such a good\u00a0Aggie. Heartbreaking.
