An unknown chemical was discovered following what was initially reported as a crash that left two people dead Thursday afternoon, according to Fort Worth Police. <\/p>\n
Officers were called to the scene around 11:28 a.m. near 1940 Delga Street. <\/p>\n
Upon arrival, officers learned that the car had struck a parked car on Delga Street and then continued traveling a short distance before it stopped.<\/p>\n
Police secured the scene and no shelter-in-place order was issued, according to first responders. <\/p>\n
Two men died in the incident. One person was pronounced dead inside the car. <\/p>\n
Fort Worth Fire provided medical care to the man on the driver’s side of the car but he died while waiting to be transported to the hospital, police said. <\/p>\n
During the investigation of the accident, Fort Worth Fire discovered a large amount of an unknown chemical inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n
First responders remained on the scene working to remove hazardous chemicals from the vehicle, along with the remaining body. Crews were wearing protective gear to protect themselves from the unknown chemicals, police said.<\/p>\n
One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for possible exposure, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department. <\/p>\n
The victims have not yet been identified.<\/p>\n
