The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will shut down a few stretches of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/news\/local\/traffic\/article\/loop-1604-closure-22199390.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Loop 1604<\/a> and Interstate 10 (I-10) beginning on Friday, April 17, at 9 p.m. Closures will continue nightly through 5 a.m. on Monday, April 20, weather permitting, according to a press release. These are the first round of segments that are listed to close, per the announcement.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic may become congested as\u00a0the city&#8217;s annual 11-day celebration, which takes up a significant part of downtown, began on Thursday, April 16. Market Square&#8217;s Fiesta De Los Reyes, which hosts live music, food, and other activities, commences\u00a0Friday. A <a href=\"https:\/\/fiestasanantonio.org\/fiesta-economic-impact\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">reported<\/a> 2.5 million people attend over the nearly two-week period.<\/p>\n<p>During the daylight hours, two other shutdowns will be active. These will close from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, according to the agency.<\/p>\n<p>TxDOT says the closures are required for bridge construction. The tasks are part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, a $1.4 billion initiative aimed at increasing safety and flow along the corridor.\u00a0Folks should expect to see law enforcement near the sites and adhere to posted signage.<\/p>\n<p>To navigate these routes in the daytime, there are a few detours at your disposal.
