City of Lubbock Pools have been closed for a couple of years now and the Summer of 2026 is no different. No pools will be opened this year by the City. There are several reasons for this, but the main issue is that the City just can’t afford to fix the repairs.<\/p>\n
Costs of Repairs Too Much For Lubbock<\/p>\n
According to KAMC<\/a>, Clapp Pool was the last pool to close after the 2023 season. Due to maintenance and repair issues, it’s been closed since. Lacey Rose, City of Lubbock’s Director of Communications and Public Engagement told KAMC<\/a>:<\/p>\n \u201cIt was past the point of no return for feasible repairs,\u201d<\/p>\n While the pools in Lubbock <\/a>remain closed for this Summer, a possible solution is being talked about. In fact, two years ago during the Mayor debate, the idea of building an aquatic center was brought up at several debates.
