T-Mobile USA Inc. is laying off a group of Austin workers as it prepares to end accessibility functions at its North Austin call center.

The telecom giant plans to cut 75 jobs tied to accessibility relay operations at its facility at 14205 N. MoPac Expressway, beginning June 8.

Those operations support communication services for people with hearing or speech disabilities. Although those services will no longer operate at the Austin facility, the call center itself will remain open, according to a filing with the Texas Workforce Commission.

MORE: Texas Workforce Commission taps Steve Pier as next executive director

The layoffs are expected to be permanent, and there are no bumping rights for affected employees, according to the filing. The company said there is no union representing workers at the Austin location, though employees are encouraged to apply for other positions with T-Mobile.

The layoffs will affect a range of roles, including relay specialists, accessibility coaches and managers. Three of the affected employees work remotely and are based outside of Texas, according to the filing.

Since 2020, T-Mobile has been the service provider for Relay Texas, a state program that provides telephone access for people with speech or hearing loss who may have difficulty using telephones. It was not immediately clear whether the layoffs will affect those services.

The Public Utility Commission of Texas, which oversees the program, did not respond to a request for comment.

The Austin layoffs come amid a broader round of job cuts by T-Mobile, including nearly 400 roles eliminated in Washington state in February and about 200 positions in Chattanooga, Tenn., being cut in the current round.

T-Mobile is based in Bellevue, Wash., and majority owned by German-based Deutsche Telekom. T-Mobile is one the largest wireless carriers in the U.S., along with Dallas-based AT&T and Verizon. The company merged with Sprint in 2020 and reported about $88.3 billion in revenue for 2025.

It did not respond to requests for additional information.

The T-Mobile logo is seen on a storefront, on Oct. 14, 2022, in Boston.
