Abbott says Texas economy reaches record $2.9 trillion, outpaces national growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 Texas\u2019 economy reached a record $2.9 trillion in 2025, according to preliminary estimates released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, marking a significant milestone for the state as it continues to outpace national economic growth, according to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. <\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s gross domestic product (GDP), adjusted for inflation, grew at a rate of 2.5% in 2025\u2014faster than the overall U.S. economy. <\/p>\n<p>The new figures reinforce Texas\u2019s position as a major global economic force, with the state maintaining its ranking as the world\u2019s eighth-largest economy when compared to individual countries, based on International Monetary Fund estimates.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Greg Abbott attributed the growth to Texas\u2019s workforce and business climate.<\/p>\n<p>RECOMMENDED: <a href=\"https:\/\/kfoxtv.com\/news\/local\/el-paso-earns-tourism-friendly-texas-certification-from-travel-texas-program?src=link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">El Paso earns Tourism Friendly Texas certification from Travel Texas program<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Texas economy expanded to a record high of $2.9 trillion thanks to the productivity of our skilled workforce and the entrepreneurs and businesses investing here with confidence,\u201d Abbott said in a statement. \u201cWith the Best Business Climate in America and unmatched pro-growth policies, Texas is the premier destination for job creators from across the country and world.<\/p>\n<p>State officials also noted that Texas\u2019s growth rate surpassed that of eight of the world\u2019s ten largest economies in 2025, underscoring its competitive position on the global stage.<\/p>\n<p>Since Abbott took office in 2015, Texas\u2019 economy has grown from $1.59 trillion to $2.9 trillion.
