Houston police are searching for a man charged with capital murder after a pregnant woman and her unborn baby were found dead.<\/p>\n
HOUSTON \u2014 The body of a 23-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn baby were discovered Thursday morning along Willow Waterhole Bayou in Houston, nearly a week after her family last heard from her, and authorities say the baby’s father remains on the run after being charged with capital murder<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ashanti Allen’s family is now speaking out, demanding that suspect Kevin Faux<\/a> turn himself in after Texas EquuSearch crews found the victims’ remains in the area near Chimney Rock Park following a days-long search.<\/p>\n Her mother, Trisa Gaines Colbert, described the emotional toll of the loss.<\/p>\n “I’m going through my different stages of grief \u2014 I’m crying because I miss her, I laugh because I miss her little humor \u2014 and then my tears start turning to anger.”<\/p>\n Colbert directed that anger squarely at Faux, who remains at large.<\/p>\n “You were the only suspect, you are the only suspect. You have nowhere to hide. Be a man and come forward.”<\/p>\n Allen’s sister, Marche Peevy, also had a message for the suspect.<\/p>\n “We can’t even give my sister a proper burial because my sister was out there for so long and he thought he could get away \u2014 you can’t get away with killing someone.”<\/p>\n Faux was initially charged with murder, but KHOU 11 legal analyst Carmen Roe says the charge was likely upgraded to capital murder because Allen’s pregnancy is considered an aggravating circumstance under the law.<\/p>\n Roe explained what Faux could be facing if caught and convicted.<\/p>\n “Going forward, he could be facing the death penalty \u2014 that’s a decision the Harris County District Attorney’s Office will have to make down the road \u2014 otherwise, he’d be facing life without the possibility of parole.”<\/p>\n Allen’s family believes the death penalty would be appropriate justice. Her mother reflected on not knowing what her daughter had been going through in her final days.<\/p>\n “I knew my baby was crying for me and I wish she would have told me everything that was going on with her life.”<\/p>\n Faux’s mother told KHOU 11 she hopes her son will surrender peacefully.
