EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) \u2014 El Paso Locomotive FC suffered its first loss of the 2026 season on Wednesday night, falling 4-1 to MLS side Houston Dynamo FC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32.<\/p>\n
The result marked the first setback of the year for the Locos, who had opened the season unbeaten across all competitions. Now, the focus turns to how El Paso responds.<\/p>\n
Despite the loss, the Locomotive remain unbeaten in USL Championship play, with a 4-0-1 record, and will have a chance to bounce back quickly.<\/p>\n
El Paso returns home Saturday night to face in-state rival San Antonio FC at Southwest University Park.<\/p>\n
It also marks the first Copa Tejas meeting of the season between the two sides\u2014the only two clubs in the league competing for the trophy.<\/p>\n
The matchup adds another chapter to a rivalry that has consistently delivered physical, high-intensity contests. Both sides are familiar with one another, and Saturday\u2019s meeting is expected to be no different.<\/p>\n
San Antonio FC (3W-1L-3D) enters the match winless in its last three league matches, while El Paso comes in riding a four-match winning streak in USL Championship play.<\/p>\n
