From cowboy romance to dark romance to the increasingly popular ‘romantasy,’ the store caters to readers looking to escape into fictional worlds centered on love.

“Honestly, I’m just a hopeless romantic who thought the genre was big enough to stand on its own, and it truly has,” Sardas said.

The response was immediate. On opening day last weekend, crowds lined up outside, even in the rain, eager to step inside for the first time.

“And I walk out, I just started bawling. I was emotional immediately,” Sardas said. “All I wanted was a line out the door.”

That moment marked a major turning point for Sardas, who left a corporate public relations career to pursue a longtime dream.

“It was always a dream. It truly never felt like it was going to become a reality,” she said.

Now, it is a reality that readers like Arlington resident Gabrielle Harden cannot get enough of.

“I came Wednesday. I was ready to come back on Friday,” Harden said.

The Latina-owned shop is resonating with locals looking for a new hobby or a place to unwind.

Beyond books, customers describe the space as something more.

“It’s girly.
