KTSM<\/a>) \u2014 A police incident that placed three schools on a brief lockdown in Anthony, New Mexico, resulted from an attempted traffic stop in El Paso and the subject fleeing into New Mexico, El Paso Police said.<\/p>\nThe mayor of Anthony, NM, said the lockdowns happened during an El Paso Police pursuit of a man wanted on a felony warrant. The man ended up barricading himself in a home. Multiple agencies were involved in the incident.<\/p>\n
New Mexico State Police said they have identified the suspect as 28-year-old Miguel Anchondo. They said they tracked him to a home in Anthony, where they are actively attempting to serve an arrest warrant.<\/p>\n
Three campuses in the Gadsden Independent School District were placed briefly on a \u201csecure hold\u201d on Friday, April 17 but that status has since been lifted, a spokesman for the district said.<\/p>\n
The secure hold was placed at the direction of law enforcement due to activity in the area, the Gadsden ISD spokesman said.<\/p>\n
No students or staff were involved, the district said, and everyone associated with the district is safe.<\/p>\n
Parents are being allowed to pick up their students.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to thank our law enforcement partners for their quick, decisive communication with our district, which helped to ensure the safety of our students and staff,\u201d the spokesman said.<\/p>\n
Anthony, New Mexico, City Hall was also briefly put on lockdown.<\/p>\n
