Additionally, he said stage locations for Fair Park events will no longer back up to the Midway and face outward.

“A stage facing inward toward the interior of Fair Park, such as Dos Equis Pavilion, can utilize the Coliseum and Cotton Bowl to mitigate sound travel,” Jenkins wrote.

Additionally, Jenkins said decibel limits prescribed by city code will be included in all music agreements, along with the associated fines for violating those limits. Decibel readings will be required throughout the event, starting with pre-event soundtracks. Code enforcement must be notified of every music event held at Fair Park, and code enforcement will be present at the events for accountability.

“Live music is a valuable cultural asset to the City of Dallas,” Jenkins wrote. “These steps will provide contractual accountability and enforceable measures to ensure these events do not affect the quality of life of any residents.”

According to Jenkins, the festival last weekend used a new stage setup involving two stages. One location the city had used before, but the other faces out toward open space, which the city attributed to the noise issue.

Low clouds were also a contributing factor to the noise traveling further, Jenkins said. Now, whenever there are low clouds, he said, the city knows it will need to reposition and watch the decibel levels.

The Breakaway Music Festival stirred up controversy earlier this month after residents reported hearing the music from miles…

[9
102,104,103
0":"post-254993","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-dallas","8":"tag-dallas","9":"tag-dallas-headlines","10":"tag-dallas-news
["GET
