HOUSTON \u2013\u00a0The University of Houston Softball team fell in its Big 12 series opener against #25 Arizona State at Cougar Softball Stadium on Friday.<\/p>\n
The Cougars (20-26, 3-16 Big 12) and Sun Devils (33-13, 6-10 Big 12) battled to a tightly contested opening six innings, drawing level at 2-2 before a three run seventh frame from Arizona State made the difference on the night.<\/p>\n

KEY INNINGS 6th\u00a0| After a leadoff walk to junior\u00a0Makenna Mitchell<\/a>, Griffin delivered yet again with a single down to center field. \n\tSenior\u00a0Kylei Griffin<\/a>\u00a0produced a pair of hits on the night, marking her fourth multi-hit outing of the season and seventh of her career.
\n\tGriffin has now recorded multi-hit performances in her last three games, totaling eight hits and two homers in the stretch.
\n\tJunior\u00a0Bethany Aguilar<\/a>\u00a0has now recorded hits in back-to-back games for the third time this season, totaling six in her last five outings.
\n\tWith a hit on the night, sophomore Isabel Cintron<\/a> has now produced eight hits in her last five games.
\n\tSophomore\u00a0Ariel Redmond<\/a>\u00a0collected her 40th\u00a0hit of the season with a double in the second inning, marking her fourth of the year.
